Podari.Life had three ongoing programs in 2023:
The first program provides doctors, hospitals, and researchers with current access to Western academic and clinical research through relevant journal subscriptions and database access funded by Podari.Life. Additionally, the program offers grants to scientists in cancer research for their participation in international conferences and exchanges. In 2023, Podari.Life allocated $36,629 towards this program.
The second program covers rare and unregistered medications necessary for treating children undergoing treatment in Russia, primarily at the Dmitry Rogachev National Research Center of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology, and Immunology. The total expense for this program amounted to $452,805 in 2023.
The third program covers IT expenses aimed at promoting cancer awareness, reaching more donors, and maintaining communication with patients' parents and families. In 2023, a sum of $18,657 was allocated to this program.
All of these achievements were made possible through your continuous support. To date, Podari.Life has received over $522,000 in donations.
Notably, nearly $70,000 was raised at our first Charity Art Auction, conducted both online and offline. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to the artists, attendees, and especially those who made this unique event possible.
The Russian school, Svoimi Slovami, organized a fundraising quest in the Bay Area, CA, where more than 30 local families joined forces, raising over $10,000 together.
Another remarkable event in the Bay Area, a private concert called Kvartirnik featuring Vera Polozkova and Alexander Manotskov, raised almost $14,000, contributing towards the costs of medications.
In 2024, we hope to continue supporting all these programs with your help.
tepanida for Mark - $9,982
Four-year-old Mark fell ill in May of this year: he often had headaches and felt unwell. During the summer, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After a course of chemotherapy, the boy needs autologous stem-cell transplantation. To prepare for this operation, Mark requires the drug Tepanida, which was promptly paid for thanks to our donors. Mark is undergoing treatment at the Dima Rogachev Center.

foscavir for Petr - $6,102
Petr, who is soon to be seven, also fell ill in May of this year: it all started with a high fever and a cough, but within a few days, it became clear that it was the flu and acute lymphoblastic leukemia. After several months of chemotherapy, in October, Petr underwent a bone marrow transplant, but his condition after the operation is severe. Therefore, to reduce the risk of infectious complications, doctors prescribed Foscavir for Petr. This medication has also already been paid for, and Peter is already receiving it.

Daniil
Dania (Daniil) was diagnosed with ALL in March 2022 at the age of 12. Fortunately, his treatment for ALL was successful. However, his battle with cancer also included a rare disease called "hemolytic anemia." To address both conditions simultaneously, Dania required Desferal, and thanks to your support, we were able to provide this crucial medication. Some medications were obtained through the generosity of donors in Russia , but we are pleased that we successfully delivered the necessary drugs on time. you can learn more at Russian page.

Valeria
In February 2022, Valeria contracted Covid-19, and then concerns arose among her parents in May of the same year, because she had been showing other symptoms. By the end of July, doctors confirmed that she was suffering from acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Thus began Lera's journey to recovery, involving initial medications, followed by a bone marrow transplant and CAR-T therapy. In June 2023, she required antiviral therapy, which is commonly necessary after a bone marrow transplant. Your support played a crucial role in ensuring she received this vital medication. Defitelio for Prokhor - $64 002
Prokhor is 13 years old, and he has been fighting acute myeloblastic leukemia. Last year, Prokhor underwent several rounds of chemotherapy, which weakened his immune system, making it difficult for him to combat various infections. But Prokhor persevered, and in September 2022, he even started attending a regular school in his hometown, not online. However, in January 2023, the illness returned. It became clear that the only hope for his recovery was a transplant. His mother became the donor, but as is often the case in such situations, to eliminate the risk of veno-occlusive disease, the doctors prescribed Defitelio. This medication is not available for purchase in Russia, so thanks to your help, we were able to cover the cost of acquiring and delivering this medicine.
Update: Prokhor passed away in May, 2025.
Defitelio for Maxim - $31 464
Maxim, an 8-year-old was recently diagnosed with adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD).
This rare genetic disorder affects the nervous system, and there is currently no cure. However, treatments like hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) can help manage symptoms and slow the progression of the disease.
Maxim had his HSCT on March 9th, and 21 days after the procedure, he needs Defitelio, which is the only treatment that helps patients fight veno-occlusive hepatic disease (VOD) that occurs after transplantation. A course of Defitelio costs approximately $30,000 for one patient. Podari.Life pays for 3-5 patients every year, depending on needs and our abilities. With your help and support, Maxim is receiving the treatment he needs in time.

Cidofovir and Prebenicid for Gosha - $ 7 048
Gosha has been diagnosed with Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that affects the immune system and blood cells. This condition predominantly affects males and is typically present from birth.
Treatment for Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome primarily focuses on managing symptoms and complications associated with the condition. This may involve regular administration of antibiotics to prevent infections, immunoglobulin replacement therapy to bolster the immune system, and platelet transfusions to aid in clotting.
In severe cases, a bone marrow transplant may be necessary. Unfortunately, this was the case for Gosha, and he underwent the transplantation in January 2023. Three months later, he required antiviral drugs, and thanks to your support, he received timely administration of Cidofovir and Prebenicid.
Cidofovir for Liza, Irakly, and Ruslan - $ 8 519
Liza
Liza was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia when she was 6 years old. After undergoing treatment, she achieved remission. However, last year, the cancer relapsed. Liza urgently required a bone marrow transplantation, and fortunately, her father was a suitable donor. Following the transplantation, Liza required Cidofovir, which plays a vital role in safeguarding her compromised immune system from potentially life-threatening viruses. We greatly appreciate your understanding of the significance of this medication in her treatment. Your support has made it possible for Liza, along with many other patients, to receive the essential care they need.
Eculizumab for patients - $95 330 during 2023
For privacy reasons, we cannot publicly disclose the stories of patients who required this medication for several months. However, thanks to your support, they received a chance to overcome cancer and return to their normal lives. We eagerly anticipate their speedy recovery.
