International Children's Day
One of the first medications we began funding in our 11-year history is Defitelio. We have written about it before: Defitelio is a practically irreplaceable drug used to treat life-threatening complications after bone marrow transplantation. Today, on June 1st—International Children's Day and Podari.Life’s birthday—we are asking for your help in purchasing this medicine.
One vial of Defitelio costs about $660, and a full treatment course for a single child requires 20–40 vials, sometimes even more. That means helping just one patient can cost over $13,000.
Thanks to your support, we have been able to provide Defitelio to many children over the years. Many of them have successfully overcome illnesses such as thalassemia, acute myeloid leukemia, aplastic anemia, and other serious conditions. In 2025 alone, we purchased $247,000 worth of Defitelio. In 2026, we have already funded another course of treatment for one of our patients.
This June, we need to pay for 40 vials of Defitelio to help a young girl, S., who is battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia and facing serious complications after her transplant.
Every vial of Defitelio is more than medicine. It is a chance to overcome a dangerous complication and continue the journey toward recovery.
Please help us give this chance to children who need it.
You can support us not only with a donation, but also by organizing a fundraiser among friends, hosting a charity picnic, running a workshop, celebrating a birthday with purpose, or arranging any other event in support of the foundation’s patients.
Together, let's help kids fight childhood cancer.
